31 października ukazało się wyjątkowe wznowienie „Who Are You”, ósmego albumu studyjnego The Who. Wydawnictwo jest dostępne w kilku formatach, w tym w edycji super deluxe, na której znalazło się aż 71 niepublikowanych wcześniej nagrań, m.in. nieznane dotąd wersje utworu tytułowego, zmiksowane na nowo nagrania koncertowe z pierwszej trasy bez Keitha Moona oraz nagrania z prób z lat 1977-1978. W zestawie 7CD/1 Blu-ray znalazły się także zupełnie nowe miksy Dolby Atmos i stereo autorstwa Stevena Wilsona. Album ukazał się również jako luksusowy box 4LP, jako 2CD deluxe oraz w limitowanych edycjach na kolorowych winylach i w wersji z masteringiem half speed.
Pierwotnie wydany w sierpniu 1978 roku „Who Are You” był przełomowym momentem w historii The Who – komercyjnym triumfem, który dotarł do drugiego miejsca listy Billboard 200 w USA (pokrywając się podwójną platyną) i szóstego na UK Albums Chart. Niestety był to także ostatni album nagrany z legendarnym perkusistą Keithem Moonem, który zmarł tydzień po premierze.
Płyta ukazywała The Who ponownie przesuwających granice – teksty odnosiły się do rosnącego wpływu brytyjskiego punk rocka. Najbardziej wymownie słychać to w tytułowym utworze, napisanym po wspólnej nocy spędzonej ze Stevem Jonesem i Paulem Cookiem z The Sex Pistols. Podobny duch obecny jest w „Music Must Change” i „Sister Disco”. Pete Townshend dostarczył tu również jedne z najbardziej ambitnych aranżacji, wzbogacając charakterystyczne brzmienie The Who o warstwy syntezatorów i smyczków.
Singiel „Who Are You” ukazał się już w lipcu 1978 roku i natychmiast stał się hitem, który pozostaje w koncertowych setlistach zespołu do dziś. Dodatkowo jego popularność odświeżyło pojawienie się w serialach spod szyldu „CSI”.
Pierwsze sesje nagraniowe odbyły się w należącym do zespołu Ramport Studios. Produkcją zajęli się Glyn Johns i Jon Astley. Proces nagrywania był pełen napięć i trudności twórczych. Edycja super deluxe „Who Are You” po raz pierwszy opowiada całą tę historię – zawiera odrzucony pierwotny miks albumu przygotowany przez Glyna Johnsa, zremasterowaną wersję miksu Jona Astleya oraz nagrania prób w Shepperton Studios, a także bogactwo niepublikowanego materiału: dema, alternatywne wersje i – w przypadku „Sister Disco” – odnalezione solówki gitarowe, uratowane ze ścieżek wielośladowych przez Stevena Wilsona.
W 1978 r. album był postrzegany jako powrót The Who do formy, a oczekiwania wobec trasy promującej wydawnictwo były ogromne. Niestety śmierć Keitha Moona 23 sierpnia położyła kres tym planom. Nowym perkusistą zespołu został Kenney Jones (Faces, Small Faces), a do składu dołączył też klawiszowiec John „Rabbit” Bundrick. Jednym z wielu punktów kulminacyjnych wydania super deluxe są nowo zmiksowane koncerty z amerykańskiej trasy w 1979 r. – nagrania ukazujące nową energię zespołu.
